Founded by artists, DESA is a project that fosters a community of care and curiosity through exhibitions, residencies, and publications. Our programming supports diverse practices and artistic research from individuals of various backgrounds and disciplines. We view artistic production as an expansive, cross-disciplinary endeavour that encourages dialogue and conversation among visual arts, craft, writing, film, music, performance, and education.
Originally established as an Artist Residency Program in Bali, Indonesia, DESA has now expanded its programming to include exhibitions and publications.
DESA is built on the principles of creation—creating artwork and forming connections. It actively promotes practice, conversation, and reflection to facilitate positive global social impact. Our initiative aims to enhance engagement, collaboration, and exchange within Southeast Asia.
We invite individuals from around the world to join us in this collective experience.
